Liver 3—known as 'Taichong' (Great Rushing) is a source point, a high concentration point which every meridian has. It is seen as an important point for stagnation of the inner body, the point that gets things moving.
After running 3 consecutive workshops last weekend at The Christie Hospital, Altrincham Manchester & York I have decided to start a blog about reflexology & RLD. When a group of reflexologists are together we can learn so much from each other by sharing our professional experiences. Here you are also invited to share your findings and experiences of using RLD. Last week I was drawn to an article by the words, 'reflexology' 'research' & a footmap showing 'subclacian vein' from the Australian College of Chi-reflexology. As the subclavian vein is an important reflex in RLD, I was very interested to read the anecdotal findings & uses in the article. This was further supported by a conversation at the Christie Hospital where they use acupuncture & acupressure. It seems that the subclavian vein reflex is 'Liver 3' (L3), which is frequently used at the hospital as the far reaching effects of L3 are indicated in a wide variety of conditions.

Reflexology Lymph DrainageRLD is a reflexology technique which stimulates specific lymphatic reflexes on the feet. Developed from first principles & researched by Sally Kay to help with the management of secondary lymphoedema in patients affected by treatment for breast cancer. Further research into RLD is ongoing and training is available for reflexology practitioners. Archives
