On Friday 5th October, I was invited to the FHT (Federation of Holistic Therapists) 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner in London, to receive The FHT Excellence in Practice Award 2012 for the Research and development of RLD.
The award was announced by Janey Lee Grace, best selling author and radio presenter, and presented by Jennifer Wayte President of the FHT.
Reflexology is commonly used in palliative care settings across the UK. Bridging the gap between reflexology practice, and proving its worth, is notoriously difficult. The evidence base for complementary therapies is slim, but growing and this initial project may form the cornerstone of future studies which will contribute to the understanding of the usefulness of reflexology in palliative care.
Reflexology Lymph Drainage
RLD is a reflexology technique which stimulates specific lymphatic reflexes on the feet. Developed from first principles & researched by Sally Kay to help with the management of secondary lymphoedema in patients affected by treatment for breast cancer. Further research into RLD is ongoing and training is available for reflexology practitioners.
