Research funding allocated
I am delighted to announce that a bid for research funding into the effects of reflexology on secondary lymphoedema of the arm has been successful. This first hurdle, getting funding for reflexology research is what stops many in their tracks. The process is arduous, fraught with difficulties, and strewn with obstacles. Funding for reflexology research is very hard to come by, as its difficult to see how benefit can be gained from it (due to lack of research!), so organisations are reluctant to buy in to it. Many of the problems exist because of the lack of knowledge about what reflexology is, and therefore what its potential could be– both in the therapy’s capacity to do good, and in its potential for harm. Anyway, a cancer charity has (after a long and painful process justifying our existence) allocated some funding for this research, which has been contributed to by Cardiff Metroplolitan University.
This second study will build on the results of the pilot (2011) which revealed such intriguing results.

The reflex science website is a 'shop window' of research and debate for reflexologists and those interested in research in the fields of complementary and alternative medicine. It has the following aims:
To bring reflexology research to a wider audience
To share knowledge and understanding about research into reflexology
To stimulate debate about the best ways to conduct research in this field
