Winner of the FHT Excellence in Practice Awards 2012
On Friday 5th October, I was invited to the Federation of Holistic Therapists 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner in London, as the winner of The FHT Excellence in Practice Award 2012, for Research and Development into RLD.
The award was announced by Janey Lee Grace, radio 2 presenter and best selling author, and was presented by Jennifer Wayte President of the FHT. October is breast cancer awareness month, which makes the timing of the award particularly poignant. Reflexology is commonly used in palliative care settings across the UK. Bridging the gap between reflexology practice, and proving its worth, is notoriously difficult. The evidence base for complementary therapies is slim, but growing and this initial project may form the cornerstone of future studies which will contribute to the understanding of the usefulness of reflexology in palliative care. |

RLD course news
Since winning the Excellence in Practice Award, the FHT suggested applying for Short Course Accreditation. Short courses provide additional specialist skills for qualified practitioners, by achieving accreditation, the course gains external verification that meets industry standards. The application has been submitted and more dates will be announced soon.
